If you have talent, they will get you in front of the right people, but with anything else you must refine your skill before you are ready to go big.

-It needs to be a minute or less, NO longer than a minute.
-It should be from a movie/book/play/tv show.

As you get more and more credits on your resume, you may want to go for an agent. An agent gets you auditions and they want people who they think would nail all the auditions they give. If you get a part in an audition. The money you make out of that work you pay 10% to your agent. ONLY 10%. If they ask for money upfront they are a SCAM. Once you get an agent you would start getting a lot of auditions which means more audition. As you make money out of roles you make you may want to get professional headshots. Then in the future you may want to join Union such a SAG, AFTRA , AEA.... HOPE I HELPED

Acting in canada and the u.s?
for example in order to be on the hit tv series degrassi, do i have to be a citizen of canada or do i just move down there and be on the show. Daniel clark (on degrassi) was born in chicago and did he just move to canada to be on the show? Another, shanae grimes (darcy) was born in canada and now shes coming to the u.s to be on that new show 90210 (wich is being filmed in beverly hills) does she have to become a citizen of the u.s to be on that show. on degrassi it says you have to be a candian citizen in order to be on the show. help please

I think he is a good actor and played charlie chaplin perfectly. Cuz I%26#039;ve always been fascinated with chaplin and I was fascinated with downey playing him. Wow, he is very good.

Reply:If it%26#039;s the version with the Disney songs, then sing a song from something else Disney - Beauty and the Beast, the Lion King, Mary Poppins, Pocahontas, just don%26#039;t use High School Musical. You could also sing something from Little Shop of Horrors as Alan Menken wrote the music for both that and Aladdin. If it%26#039;s not the Disney version, you want something in the same style as the music for the show - there are a bazillion versions of Aladdin out there so I can%26#039;t be any more specific, sorry!

Reply:If it%26#039;s the version with the Disney songs, then sing a song from something else Disney - Beauty and the Beast, the Lion King, Mary Poppins, Pocahontas, just don%26#039;t use High School Musical. You could also sing something from Little Shop of Horrors as Alan Menken wrote the music for both that and Aladdin. If it%26#039;s not the Disney version, you want something in the same style as the music for the show - there are a bazillion versions of Aladdin out there so I can%26#039;t be any more specific, sorry!

I am currently taking an honour%26#039;s degree in Canada for Professional Writing, and plan to double major in Film Studies. This doesn%26#039;t allow me to create films however, just study films (theory etc.) and do a bit of screen writing - it%26#039;s not a degree in Film Production. I was thinking of going to college afterwards to do the production part, since it will take only a year or two, instead of doing a full degree after which will take four. Or would it be beneficial to switch my degree completely to something in Film Production? ** If there is anyone with film industry experience / film school experience who could provide insight to this question, it would be appreciated. **

No one is going to give you money and trust you as a director because you went to film school or got a film degree. You will learn some good things and you could meet some good contacts who can help you meet your goals now and in the future... but ultimately you can get these things out of film school. So I agree with the first answer, get a camera, write some shorts, and make little movies. They don%26#039;t need to be masterpieces, but you%26#039;ll learn how to make movies.
You need to build up a good directors reel. Then, keep writing. Writing does not cost money if you%26#039;re not paying for adaptation rights or anything like that. What you should aim for is a script that can be produced on a small budget that could have enough mainstream appeal to get distributed if it%26#039;s made well... then you go out with your script and director%26#039;s reel and raise money to make your film.
This is the independent film production route... there are many ways to achieve your goal and this is just one. You could also move out to Hollywood (or NY or Vancouver) and try and get PA jobs and keep working your way through the system until you have enough clout and reputation to get a job as a hired gun...

Reply:First you going to have to go to acting schools for training. Not only one but a couple. Then you should get in local plays, school plays, student films. You could search for auditions on craigslist.com or subscribe to backstage.com The you should get headshots that look like you. Professional headshots are pretty expensive they cost $200-$1000 but on craigslist you could find less expensive headshot that range from $50 to $150. As you get more and more credits on your resume, you may want to go for an agent. An agent gets you auditions and they want people who they think would nail all the auditions they give. If you get a part in an audition. The money you make out of that work you pay 10% to your agent. ONLY 10%. If they ask for money upfront they are a SCAM. Once you get an agent you would start getting a lot of auditions which means more audition. As you make money out of roles you make you may want to get professional headshots. Then in the future you may want to join Union such a SAG, AFTRA , AEA.... HOPE I HELPED

So I was invited to one of celebrity talent %26quot;auditions%26quot; in Beverly Hills yesterday and it seemed pretty bogus to me. They said that they liked my look and threw in some more words to flatter me. Before I went into the interview, they were passing out these water bottles with their logo on it so that they would appear legitimate. They called me back today and said that my parents needed to pay $700+ so that I can get a makeup artist, acting classes, professional head shots, and so that they can find me an agent. I was pretty skeptical, so I turned down the offer. Anyone heard of this %26quot;talent agency%26quot;?

Reply:A flowing tunic over tights (and a leotard, if you wish). You can even just cut a hole in the center of a 7-foot or so piece of cool cloth, pop your head through and tie a piece of rope or ribbon around your waist to belt it off.
Depending on which one you are, you can coordinate the costume and/or make-up colour to it (Mustardseed would be ochre-ish, for example).
And flowers or some other greenery in your hair or wasitband might also be appropriate.

Next year I will be a Freshman in high school, and me and a couple of friends tried out for the speech team (two friends made it, two didn%26#039;t). Anyway, i know i will completely suck compared to people already on it. Any tips on how not to completely embarrass myself?

Also, if your coach%26#039;s can%26#039;t take you for an extra practice, ask a captian. I loved when people came to me and asked me to watch them practice, and loved it even more when they took my suggestions and won!

The biggest thing to do is not to act like you already know everything. If you ask for help when you need it, you%26#039;ll quickly become a very good speech-giver.
Public Speaking, in a nutshell:
- Be loud
- Appeal to emotions when appropriate
- Memorize the whole thing if you can so that you%26#039;re not always sticking your face in the paper. If you can look your audience in the eyes, you%26#039;ll get major bonus points.
- Proof read your speeches multiple times before you perform them.
- Have one or two other people with a good eye for mistakes proof read your speeches, as well.
Remember-- this is your first year, you%26#039;re not expected to be perfect. The people on the team already have at least a year behind them. Think of it like this-- if you try hard enough and you practice your craft decently and magnificently-- you%26#039;ll be just like them in a year or two.
As long as you don%26#039;t act as if you are the best of the best and you give enough respect to those who have been doing this before, you won%26#039;t embarrass yourself. Whenever THEY graduate, YOU%26#039;LL be the one who is awesome and fantastic.

I have already learned two songs that I am considering. They are If I loved You and Mr. Snow. I have no idea which one to sing because they both have the pros and cons.. its just a matter of weighing them out which is difficult. So.. here it goes.. If I loved you is simple but powerful and slow.. the way I like to sing and I think it suits my voice... however, it is not as much acting and I wanted to do a song that can really show my acting just in case I land the supporting role (which is a fun character) However, Mr. Snow has a lot of acting but I do not feel as powerful and it goes faster.. but not too fast.
