Daniel clark (on degrassi) was born in chicago and did he just move to canada to be on the show? Another, shanae grimes (darcy) was born in canada and now shes coming to the u.s to be on that new show 90210 (wich is being filmed in beverly hills) does she have to become a citizen of the u.s to be on that show. on degrassi it says you have to be a candian citizen in order to be on the show. help please
Acting in canada and the u.s?
The big thing about Canadian vs. US productions is the incentives that Canada is currently giving filmmakers from the US. Usually if the lead is US born then they require about 70% (figures may be wrong) or the supporting cast to be Canadian to qualify. If the lead is Canadian it%26#039;s far less.
For the most part you do not NEED to be a citizen of the country in which filming is taking place. Unless it is something strictly enforced by either the production or casting company. If you are selected the production company should be able to secure a work visa or permit for you for the duration of your filming commitment.
Degrassi, being known more or less as a %26quot;Canadian%26quot; show may only want to use a large majority of actors from Canada, but there is nothing stating, obviously, that they can%26#039;t use actors fromother countries as well.
